Eric Enriquez is the Mayor of Las Cruces, elected in November 2023. Born and raised in Las Cruces, his family was established in the area in the late 1800s. He worked at his parents' tortilla factory and restaurant Jose Maria in Alamogordo before joining the Las Cruces Fire Department. He rose from firefighter to Fire Chief and Assistant City Manager. He earned his B.A. from NMSU.
