Javier Mabrey is a Colorado State Representative for House District 1, encompassing Denver's southwestern neighborhoods. After his family faced homelessness when he was fifteen following his mother's near-fatal car accident, Mabrey got his GED and worked as a dishwasher and pizza delivery driver to put himself through community college. He went on to earn a B.A. from CU Boulder and a J.D. from UC Berkeley Law School, where he became an eviction defense attorney.
