Alex Valdez is a Colorado State Representative for House District 5 in Denver. Born and raised in the Denver metro area, Valdez grew up in Aurora and founded EcoMark, one of Colorado's largest solar companies, before entering the legislature. He was elected in 2018 and became the first-ever first-year legislator appointed to a committee leadership role in the Colorado House. He identifies as an LGBTQ person of color.
